Really well engineered packApr 13, 2011
By loimprevisto I had this backpack issued to me in the military and used it for training and deployments as well as day hikes and recreational trips. Right up against the back padding is the space for hydration bladders. I use a 3 liter Camelbak bladder and it works fine for me. There is room for a second (and the hose) if you need the extra water/weight. I also sometimes attach a canteen to the MOLLE webbing. The main compartment has plenty of room, and is what I usually use for my "72-hour bag". I can pack a change of clothes, snacks, hygeine kit and first aid kit without too much trouble, and there's room for miscellaneous things in the mesh bags sewn into this compatment.
The next compartment forward has plenty of room for accessories. I keep a notepad, some pens, cell phone, and various other odds and ends in here. There is another small zippered compartment just behind the MOLLE webbing on the front of the pack. I use this for storing whatever documents I'm travelling with; it's big enough to shove everything into a cover folder and keep the folder in there. There are 3 other compartments, one one either side of the pack and one below. I use the side pouches for snacks, keeping one crammed full of energy bars and the other full of drink powders, but they are reasonably sized for small electronics and other handy things. The side pouches also have webbing on them, so you can attach additional pouches or tools. The bottom pouch is larger than I expected, but the rest of the pack is roomy enough that I've never really needed to use it for any particular purpose. It's generally my reserve area where I'll keep gloves and clean socks and anything else I want to get to without digging through the main compartment.
Overall, this is the best backpack of it's size that I have owned.

Good bug-out bagMar 25, 2011
By D. Smith Very rugged well constructed back pack that's comfortable to wear loaded down with gear. It's got tons of room and pockets all over it, including MOLLE attachment points all over the outside and bottom. It's even got 2 mag pouches in the back compartment. It has everything I think I'd need for "assaulting" into a rough area for more than 3 days. If the zombie apocalypse hits this bag should be part of your kit. Highly recommended.

Very well built packJun 25, 2011
By Eric Lots of room! I have over 5 days of supplies in this bag with room left over. The bag has lots of compartments so you can organize your gear by general function. The bag will accommodate a camelback hydration bladder which, IMHO, is a huge plus in a B.O.B. There are many stretch loops for affixing random stuff to the outside of the pack as well. The pack is a soft back type (there is no metal frame) but it does have built in padding so pointy things wont poke you in the back. It is comfortable to wear with 30lbs of gear in it. The construction is top notch. The stitching methods and material looks like that used by the parachute riggers I knew in the service. In summary, a very sturdy well designed pack that is very suitable for a high end survival kit.

Military Quality...NOT!Sep 06, 2011
By Sarah Bearss We thought this was a military grade bag...but it was destroyed after three trips used as a carry-on. Both straps fell off. The stitching is a joke. It is low quality, and extremely overpriced.
