Exceeded My Expectations. Buying a second one.Apr 12, 2012

I used this pack as my main bag for a two week trip around Panama. As a 5'1" woman, all of my clothing and essentials easily fit inside with room to spare. Take into consideration that I packed for a warm weather trip, and my clothing is a lot smaller than a 6' man's would be. My 6' husband also liked this bag but plans to buy either the 25 or 30L one to better serve his needs. My shoes fit perfectly on the outside, held snug by the elastic. Need specifics? I brought 2 swimsuits, 4 shorts, 5 tank tops, 1pair pants, undies, skirt, rain jacket, travel towel, sleep sack, 3 long-sleeved shirts, 1 sarong, 2 pairs of socks, 1 camera with small tripod, extra battery and charger, 1 Kindle and charger, notebook, pens, small first aid kit, small toiletry kit, headlamp- essentially, I didn't skimp on the packing.
With the pack closed, either buckled on top or folded over and cinched down with the side straps, I found it remarkably easy to handle and both light and comfortable enough to carry everywhere. It even fit under my seat on one of our flights, though that was pushing it a bit. Though I didn't take it swimming, it spent quite a lot of time at the beach, in drenching rain and sitting on the deck of a very wet boat- not a drop got into the bag. The contents never even felt the least bit damp. The side pocket was a fantastic addition to the bag, but it wasn't as durable as the rest of the bag- it ripped after the second week of use, disappointing, but not a deal breaker. I followed the advice of other reviews and found it helped to attach a small flashlight to the outside of the bag- inside is a deep and dark cavern and finding anything in there, even in bright sunlight, is challenging. The little light did the trick and was handy in many other, non-bag related situations as well.
I love this bag- planning to buy another just to have on hand. Wish they made a smaller, 10 of 15L one for a day pack.
